Join the Anthros Team in Supporting Runway to Hope’s Sparkle & Shine 5K

 In Blog

The coronavirus has had a devastating effect on the nonprofit world that depends upon live events for vital fundraising.

One such charity that matters deeply to me is Runway to Hope, which provides direct aid to children and their families affected by pediatric cancer. Since losing my own father to cancer, I’ve felt a responsibility to fight for the families who are still enduring the battle I lived through and experienced firsthand. I was thrilled and honored when co-founders Mark and Josie NeJame invited me to join the RTH Board of Directors last year. Being able to serve on the Board and devote myself to its mission has been a tremendous honor and pleasure.

Like other charity events, Runway to Hope’s annual soiree gala which typically brings in 88% of their funding for the year was canceled because of the pandemic. Plus, the 2nd Annual Sparkle & Shine 5K, scheduled for Saturday, September 26th, has been converted to a completely virtual event.

Events may be canceled but cancer has NOT been canceled. The families that depend upon Runway to Hope’s Family Assistance Program to help with rent and groceries while their children are going through cancer treatment still need that aid, now more than ever.

Hope has not been canceled either. I ask if you will consider helping in one of the following ways.

  1. Sign up for the Runway to Hope Sparkle & Shine Virtual 5k Run/Walk.

Whether you are running or walking, you can participate from anywhere in the world while supporting an important cause.

  1. Make a donation to the Anthros team’s Sparkle & Shine fundraiser.

Thanks to your help the Anthros team was the top fundraising team at last year’s event. With your help, we can do it again!

  1. Shop the Runway to Hope 2020 Virtual Auction which will take place next week September 21-26.

The money raised from Sparkle & Shine and the Virtual Auction goes directly to support Central Florida children and families affected by pediatric cancer through Runway to Hope’s Family Assistance Program. Since this program was started in 2014, it has has provided over $594,000 in direct aid to children and families fighting pediatric cancer! This goes towards rent, groceries, utilities and other bills, and helps keep families afloat when they are going through the most difficult period of their lives.

Thank you so much. Your support helps families fighting pediatric cancer and moves us closer to a cure.
